Bred In Heaven

Today was the first day of the Six Nations Cup. Most North Americans have never heard of the Six Nations Cup but it is the biggest event (next to the Rugby World Cup) to happen in Welsh sports every year. The top six European rugby countries play off in a super tournement. The six countries are Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, and Italy. Essentially it's a big round robin where the team with best record at the end is champion.

For those of you that don't know Wales loves rugby. The photo I have placed above is that of a famous Welsh beer called Brains (I know, weird name huh?). These posters are everywhere in Wales. Last year Wales won the Six Nations Cup. A very big accomplishment.

Unfortunately, Wales is not having a good year this year. They have been plagued by injuries and have not been able to recover their winning ways of last year. In the photo above the guy with spikey hair on the left is Gavin Henson. He is the super stud of the team and dates Charlotte Church the pop singer. Gavin has been injured basically all year.

Today Wales played against their arch nemesis England. Wales knows they will likely not challenge for the Cup this year but if you can only win one game you need to make it England. It didn't happen. Wales was destroyed today in front of the English crowd at Twickenham 47 to 13.

Dad really gets into the international rugby and was bummed by the loss. Let's hope they can turn it around next week!
